Description

The 1st Pyongyang Film Festival of Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries took place in Pyongyang, the capital city of DPRK. 139 delegates from 64 delegations in 48 countries and international missions participated in the festival and 46 feature films, 42 short films and 22 animations, totally 110 films were submitted and among them, 40 films were awarded prizes concerned. President Kim Il Sung, the great leader of Korean people sent congratulatory message to the participants of the 1st Pyongyang Film Festival. In the festival, Korean Feature Film “A Broad bellflower” and Korean Animation “A Boy Defeats Robbers”were awarded the Gold Torch Prize. Films submitted to the festival were screened 472 times in the cinemas such as People’s Palace of Culture and Taedongmun Cinema House in Pyongyang. Film exchange works of different countries through film market were proceeded during the festival. President Kim Il Sung sent a congratulatory message and President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il took care of festival participants during the length of their stay in Pyongyang for the success of the festival. The participants gave presents which they had sincerely prepared and a letter of thanks to the great leaders. They got to know well about the greatness of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and the development of Juche-oriented film art and were greatly impressed with the capital city which had changed its looks beyond recognition, visiting different places of Pyongyang. The 1st Pyongyang Film Festival was successfully held amid the great concern and expectation of the world. It was the grand political festival which displayed the honor and pride of Juche Korea for upholding President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and a significant international gathering which strengthened friendship and solidarity between peoples and film makers of Non-Aligned and other developing countries and promoted the cause of independence against imperialism of the world people.
