Description

The 4th Pyongyang Film Festival of Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries was held from September 26th to October 4th in Pyongyang, the capital city of DPRK. 83 delegates from 51 organizations of 49 countries and 2 international missions participated in the festival and 98 films were submitted to the festival. All participants of the opening ceremony paid a silent tribute to the memory of President Kim Il Sung on the motion of dean of Indonesian delegation, the Chair-Country of the Non-Aligned Movement before the opening ceremony. In the opening ceremony, vice-premier Jang Chol made a congratulatory speech and the delegates of Indonesia, Cameroon and Cuba made speeches. Speechmakers expressed their deep condolences of President Kim Il Sung’s deprivation and said that he was a greatest man that the mankind has ever had and made sure that Korean people would overcome the this great sorrow and carry the revolutionary cause of Juche under the wise leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il. Vietnamese feature film “Wild Reed” was awarded Gold Torch Prize in the festival through fair judgment of jury members from India, Indonesia, Cuba, Vietnam, Egypt and DPR Korea. During the festival, festival participants got to know more well about the great personality of President Kim Il Sung through visiting several places in Pyongyang such as the old home at Mangyongdae and visiting the International Friendship Exhibition and watching documentary films gathering the immortal revolutionary feats of President Kim Il Sung. Delegates from different countries unanimously were deeply impressed that though Korean people were sorrow-beaten by losing the great national parents, they prepared for the international film festival in a high level and the society was in safe mode and the people were united firmly around the great leader The international jury members and festival delegates placed a floral wreath on the statue of President Kim Il Sung on Mansu hill and expressed their deep sympathy to him on the way home after the festival. The 4th Pyongyang Film Festival was the first international ceremony after President passed away and become the significant festival of strengthening the friendship and solidarity with the people and film makers of different countries and encouraging the cause of independence against imperialism of the world people.
